For anyone about to invest in hearing technology.
And for anyone who already has, and is still struggling.
In the film
Or keep reading. Everything in the film is below.
Oticon, Phonak, Widex and others are all doing remarkable things.
And they're doing them in very different ways.
Oticon
Its Dual AI approach works separately with speech and the wider sound scene, giving the brain clearer access to conversation while keeping the spatial information around it.
Phonak
Its dedicated DEEPSONIC AI chip is designed to separate speech from noise in real time, even when voices come from different directions.
Widex
Widex has built much of its approach around naturalness and the immediacy of sound.
But how much you actually benefit from any of them depends on something more fundamental.
How deeply we understand the way your ears deliver sound to your brain, and how your brain makes sense of it.
A pure-tone audiogram is where you listen for tones and press a button each time you hear one.
It is an essential part of a hearing assessment. It shows the quietest sounds you can detect.
It cannot show how you follow a conversation at a busy table.
Six tones. None of them a conversation.
When we choose hearing technology, we are choosing something to help your ears deliver sound information to your brain.
And it has to support what your brain does with that information.
If the choice stopped at the audiogram, very little was learned about how you actually hear and listen in the real world.
If you're considering a hearing aid
Don't start by asking which hearing aid is best.
Start by asking how deeply your hearing health will be understood before anyone decides what's best for you.
And expect to be part of that decision. It shouldn't be a one-way street.
If you've already invested
You've been back for adjustments, more than once. And you're still wondering why it isn't working for you.
Perhaps it isn't the technology.
Perhaps we need to look further back, at how deeply your hearing was explored before that technology was selected.
Sometimes even the very best technology will still have limits in areas where you hoped for more.
Hearing care based on trust has to be honest about that too.
That time isn't an extra. It's how we do the work properly.
Together, we explore:
You leave with a clear understanding of your hearing health and treatment goals we have agreed together.
We select it across manufacturers around those findings and personalise it to you. We objectively verify the sound delivered in your ear, validate the outcome against your everyday experience, and refine it against your goals over a structured six to eight weeks.
You're very welcome to bring your partner, a friend or a family member.
Ask us to call youOver sixty years in the Shulberg family, at the same Marylebone address.
We aren't tied to any manufacturer, so the only question is which approach best supports you.

Yes. We work across manufacturers, so we can look at what you have, how it was chosen and personalised, and whether a different approach might suit you better.
Please do. A partner, friend or family member is warmly welcome.

Not the person around the technology.
